Does keyword research still matter in SEO?

Spread the love

If you are eager to learn about SEO, obviously you want to know about keywords, and how to do keyword research. What I say is, SEO starts with a keyword. Your SEO success is determined by the way you use keywords and how you research for them. So, before digging more about keywords, let’s have a brief introduction of SEO from a different angle

Why SEO is So Important?

SEO is not irrelevant, but it is much more important than people make it out to be. The problem is that so many people trying to get top rankings in the search engines are not fully aware of how to do it or what they need to do to get top rankings. Let’s take the mystery out of SEO. What is Search Engine Optimization? SEO is simply the technique you use to a website to get it to rank higher in the search engines. Now, you are saying: What do I need to do with my website to get it ranked higher in the search engines? You need to have relevant content, for one. And you can make as many pages of this content as you can get. Search engines love sites with lots of pages of unique content.

Search engines even encourage sites with large numbers of pages to link back to the sites they like. It’s almost like, a popularity contest. The more people that like your site, the more they will. So, good content focused around your keywords is the only answer to getting and keeping SEO ranking. But then there is the “other” equally important factor that will affect your SEO ranking, and that is having good content that is updated regularly.

Search engines are sticklers with updating content. For example, if you type in a search phrase into Google and then click on the page that pops up with recent results for your query, it will tell you how long it takes before any information appears. With Google’s indexing system, your website doesn’t need to be optimized off-page. Some people skip going the extra mile with their content and just rely on natural search engine optimization.

Content and Keywords

The thing is, if you want good search engine results, you have to make sure you have good content optimized with relevant keywords. After all, search engines are powered by people. People use search engines to find information. Therefore, the best information is what the search engines choose first. And if you want the search engines to like your site, you need to have content with keywords that search engines can crawl very easily. Yes, other things will help you get and keep good search engine rankings, but you don’t have to worry about those things until you have your good content.

Once you have the right information, you can start changing your site to be more search engine friendly. And a little effort can make a big difference in your SEO ranking in the search engines. The only difficult part about search engine optimization is having to get rid of some luckily inevitable tasks. For example, you can’t make a new blog post and publish it immediately. It takes time for search engines to crawl your site and be sure that the new content is not plagiarized. It can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, depending on how old it is and how many links you’ve come into your website with other sites.

With these factors, it is easy to see that unless you are extremely adept at web development and designing sites, it may be difficult to optimize a blog for the search engines. That doesn’t mean that you should not do your best to get the search engines to like your site. Remember, whenever you are trying to get your site listed on Google and other search engines, you have to keep them happy. If you haven’t done so already, you should probably adopt a no-follow tag on your blog posts. No-follow tags mean that the search engines will not be able to follow a link to your site. No-follow links will cause your page to rank very low in the search engine results.

Getting Ideas with Google Analytics

Use Google Analytics to see which keywords related to your site get the most traffic. Then use those keywords to optimize your site. You can look at the keywords that get you the most traffic and see what those keywords are with the free keyword research tools like Google keyword planner. You may not get much traffic after all. Search engine optimization is not something you can do in a snap. You have to build up patience and commitment like the demanding nature of building traffic to your site. It will take time, effort, and a lot of effort to get a page one ranking in Google. As you develop patience and have a good system in place, you have a good chance of becoming highly ranked in the search engines like Google.

What is Keyword Density?

If you’re an internet marketer and are thinking about building a website, do you know the phrase “keyword density?” If not, you should. Keyword density refers to the number of times the selected keyword appears in an article, blog post, or similar text document. As a caveat, it is widely agreed that the best WordPress URLs offering the best keyword density is 3 – 7%.

More than that will create a negative impact on the search engines. If you write your blog posts on a blog site like WordPress, the default is to display your post under the title, alphabetically, or in order of preference. If you don’t like how the default display looks you can easily change it from the preferences tab under the settings tab. When you have time between projects, you can always organize projects by keyword density.

Go for Keyword Research

The primary objective of a search engine is to bring the users to a specific spot on the search results. Surfers are the ones that eventually buy the product or service. So for you the end-user, the search engine is the boss and you are his slave. The keywords you choose and their density are based on the end user’s expectations. Keywords must be relevant to the topic and he needs to be looking for them.

So the first step is keyword research. Keyword research tools give you keyword ideas that you might not have thought of. They give you keyword traffic that you never had considered before. If you don’t have enough budget to purchase a paid version, there are a lot of free keyword research tools that can give you the best results. As a good internet marketer, you want to build a site that caters to the search engines and the visitors who will come to your site. Keyword density is critical in achieving this goal. It is not something that is going to overnight improve your rankings. It might take several months before you realize the results. You can choose keywords that have a good search volume (over 5,000 monthly searches) and under 50,000 competitors. This means you are focused on only one keyword phrase.

Why keyword research is Important?

You must select the right keywords for your niche. Several free and paid software programs can help you select the right keywords. It is not enough to select a keyword phrase with high search results and low competition. You need to ask yourself what your visitors are going to type into the search box. Then optimize your web page for that phrase. If you have a single keyword, it is best to optimize each page individually.

Mention Keywords in the right place

You must include the most popular keyword in your title. This is the most important part of your web page. You should also make sure that this keyword is in the first and last paragraphs of your blog article. You must follow the rules of traditional SEO: having the keyword in the title and your post title and include the keyword in your article without sounding like you are spamming it. If you use the same keyword in your article that you used in your title, your article will not make sense and the search engines will see you as having failed to optimize.

So if you are going to use the same keyword over and over again, your articles and posts will not rank as high.

Use Meta tags

Another important component of your blog and web page is the use of meta tags. These are the tags that are put in the HTML code that gives your blog or web page its title and description. If you do not know how to edit your HTML code, you must learn how to do it. If you have a web page that is built by WordPress, the tags are easy to locate. Just go to File> New > HTML in the theme settings menu. Then type in the meta tags you need and fill in the meta title, description, and keywords. While you are doing that, be sure you check the box for “Alternate Text” and fill in the keyword as your keyword.

Internal Linking

Linking related posts to each other on your blog is crucial to getting your search engine ranking higher. The links are “read” by the search engine spiders and help your rank higher. You can link several related posts to one blog. This will help the search engines to crawl your blog and better rank it.
